I am so excited to share the cover art for my forthcoming book, For the Love of Women: Uprooting and Healing Misogyny in America (HarperCollins/Zondervan, release date Oct. 28, 2025).
When we started the design process several months back, the creative team at Zondervan sent me three very different concepts, two of which I really liked. However, I didn’t think either of them captured the vibe of this book. I researched, sent them some samples, and after a few back and forths, here’s where we landed. I love the colors and that the sketches represent diverse women. I hope that this will capture potential readers’ attention on book store displays. (Thanks to Jeff Miller for bringing my idea to life.)
You can pre-order the book via the link above. Pre-orders help authors because they register the day the book releases. The higher the sales on that first day, the greater the likelihood that the book will move up in the rankings. So please consider buying one (or three) now. If you are in the Greater Boston area, I’ll be having a book launch party in late October and you will be able to buy the books directly from me. (Plus there will be live music and food.)
For the Love of Women represents my life work. As I wrote in chapter one, I’ve been gathering research since I was a young child. (Tragically.) The book explores how misogyny shows up in six sectors of American life: healthcare, the workplace, the government, entertainment and media, the church, and intimate relationships. The final two chapters focus on healing and how we can eradicate misogyny.
It’s not a memoir, but does contain many personal stories. It’s research heavy, but definitely not academic (almost 500 footnotes). Though it’s hard hitting, it’s also hopeful.
My premise is that misogyny harms all of us—women and men—and it’s time for it to stop. While the #MeToo and #ChurchToo movements succeeded in raising consciousness and initiating important changes connected to misogynistic practices, we still have much work to do. (Men, this book is for you too! Women can’t do this work alone.)
I’m not charging for my posts because I want as many people as possible to learn about For the Love of Women. You can help by sharing this post, hitting the like button (this really does matter!), leaving a comment, and subscribing. Thanks for stopping by.

I love a well-researched book! Thank you for all your hard and long work, Dorothy. I hope I can get an early reader copy when they’re available so I can share a review with my audience? And please reach out to me about doing a guest Substack if you’re interested.
I am loving the book cover & so proud of your work!
