Thank you for writing this. Attorney General of California. U.S. Senator. Vice President of the United States. Yet somehow, Kamala Harris's qualifications were "questionable." Sound familiar? When critics demanded an open primary, claiming Democrats wouldn't unite behind her, Harris responded by rallying the party and raising half a BILLION dollars in just one month. The criticism shifted: "She's not visible enough in the media." So she showed up. 60 Minutes. CNN. Fox News.
National Association of Black Journalists. Town halls. The response? "But what about her policies?" She released a comprehensive platform. Now it's "People still don't know her." See the pattern? Each achievement faces a new objection, and every cleared hurdle reveals another beyond it. This right here is what I have experienced in corporate America.
Always your work is questioned, yet you can see someone mediocre as Trump and will still be voted in office. Boarder security should have been resolved, we all remember what transpired, also I don't hear people questioning what Mike Pence did? No, but Kamala has been scrutinized as if she was the president already. Thank you so much for bringing all this up.
As a first-time voter, I cannot stay silent on the troubling direction this country seems to be headed in. Donald Trump’s actions, especially his creation of a so-called Bible that includes the Declaration of Independence, send dangerous signals. This is not leadership-this is the makings of a cult movement. The implications are clear: by merging sacred texts with political doctrine, he's undermining both our democracy and the very principles of freedom that many, including myself, came to this country to embrace.
Project 2025 is deeply concerning. It feels like an attempt to deceive people into thinking Trump is a divinely chosen leader. But in reality, it serves only to bolster a man who has never been held accountable for his actions, not once in his life. It breaks my heart to witness someone holding the Republican Party hostage, turning it into a tool for their own unchecked power.
As someone who came to the United States seeking freedom of speech and true liberation, I cannot ignore the red flags that resemble authoritarian regimes in Africa. I will not support any movement that seeks to erode the democratic values this country stands for. That’s why I’ll be casting my vote for Kamala Harris-a vote for justice, freedom, and true accountability.
Thanks for writing this excellent piece Dorothy. Hopefully, you will influence some who are truly undecided. The tragic fact, however, is that the average American leaning toward Trump will simply discount every one of your sources as "Liberal Media," "Lies," etc. Even when people at FOX are quoted as critiquing Trump, his followers typically conclude that the FOX person is a "Traitor" who they will no longer listen to. I have seen many intelligent people discount virtually every one of your sources by listening to spurious rebuttals put forth by FOX and others. YES, we need to urge people to vote, but I believe the electoral process in the USA has long-since abandoned logic and objective data as guidelines for the process. I will also vote for Harris, not because I support her. I do not. However, I see virtually anyone on the planet as a better alternative than Trump, who has only one focus for his service....Trump. I believe he is one of the closest things to Mussolini that the 21st Century has thus far witnessed. May God mercifully grant us a reprieve from Trump' moral and political insanity.
Really, that is my main concern with him. I do think he's unstable and that he looks to others who may or may not have others' concerns and rights in mind. Thank you for reading.
Thankfully, we're not voting for the best qualified person to be our pastor. Both candidates flunk that test. But on the issues that most Americans care about, economy, border security and national security, do you really believe Harris is the best qualified candidate?
Yes. Trump's quest for power and the ways he talks about misusing that power deeply disturb me. What happened on Jan 6 is also a huge red flag for how little he respects the Constitution.
I agree with this post, top to bottom. It is well-researched and reasonable. Unfortunately, the people who believe that all your sources are based on the lyin' main stream media will tune out after the first few sentences. Sheeple. That's who we are for believing this sort of narrative. That's ok with me, though. I know the Good Shepherd. 💜
Thank you Dorothy for this well thought out and excellent reasoning on why Trump is not fit to be the President of the United States. I understand your position on a woman's choice. I am worried about the women who need this care to save their lives, many want their child but something goes wrong, and cannot get this care in some states now. The doctors are fearful. And I do believe in a woman's choice and follow the help for women that you recommend so that they can keep their child. Thank you.
I hear you and there's so much more that I'd like to say on this. I do agree that if a woman's life is in danger she needs to be able to get whatever help will see her through.
thank you for continuing to be a sane and thoughtful voice. Both Ron and I have shared this to our pages even though we have said we would not 'get political'. Continue to stand up and speak out and know we are right alongside you.
Thank you so much, Dorothy, for taking the time (and the risk), to write this. I am in fellowship with many Christians who support Trump, and it breaks my heart. I find that I can’t even communicate about this in a meaningful way to those who disagree, as truth itself seems to be up for grabs. To be clear, I do NOT support the “liberal agenda”. Celebrating gender confusion, and encouraging children to pursue transitioning when they feel confused, is another reality that breaks my heart. But a leader is more than just a policy-maker. Even if I supported all of Trump’s policies (which I don’t), we are also electing someone whose behavior will be a model. We “catch” more than we learn- children are much more likely to act in a way that is regularly modeled for them, than in a way that they’re “taught” is right. The Access Hollywood tape says a lot. The complete lack of remorse for comments and behavior like this, says even more. The example of demanding loyalty, of belittling and removing anyone who disagrees, is dangerous. The threat to democracy is sobering.
Yes, and this is my main concern regarding Trump. He has communicated and demonstrated that he is beyond the law and will do whatever he wants. That's not a democracy.
Thanks for laying out all we're dealing with. I absolutely agree there is too much at stake. Pray and Vote people! If not once again history will show how the Church aligning with power results in devastation.
Love the passion in the past two articles. The one opposing Trump had a lot of great researched evidence and great points. The second article about the fear of conservative men losing control over women is disgusting, true and needs to change. Excited to see the positive changes that could happen for women with a female President. Derek
Thank you for writing this well thought and researched article. I am experiencing significant scrutiny from fellow Christians for my vocal opposition to Trump and your research with links helps me to respond graciously and hopefully provide some insight and food for thought. I’m saddened and dumbfounded by how many well educated Christians (like Ben Carson) seem to be blindly supporting Trump.
As a naturalized U.S. Citizen, I find the wide open border policy of the Biden/Harris administration absolutely insulting. I entered the U.S. LEGALLY, respecting the laws of this country, and went through extensive time, effort, and funds to become a U.S. citizen. Thorough background check, fingerprints of all ten fingers, and even bio-metric images of my eyeballs! And a test of U.S. history, constitution, etc. For the past nearly four years we have had thousands of illegals pouring over the border daily, unvetted, and filtering throughout the country, many to small towns that cannot handle the population influx to their schools and medical facilities. Lots of freebies available for these folks evidently. Just look at Brunswick Maine. Brand new apartment buildings have been built for illegal aliens, providing 2 years free rent, free utilities, brand new furniture and appliances including big TV! Unreal. How about we start taking care of our homeless Veterans like this? !!! Think I'm kidding? Check this out: https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/10/watch-first-look-inside-furnished-maine-apartments-where/ So much for "Border Czar Harris"... let in the criminals, the drug dealers, the human traffickers, ... come one, come all ! It's obvious this open border policy was designed to create a flood of future voters.
We do not need 'comprehensive immigration reform'. Nonsense. We just need to ENFORCE existing immigration laws .. which the frustrated Border Patrol agents are not allowed to do. We don't need a new law passed by Congress .. just enforce the existing law !!!
Biden/Harris administration has suppressed energy production since day one (killed Keystone Pipeline, shut down coal-burning plants which are a very valuable backup for extreme cold temperatures, big push for EV's that nobody can afford and are proving dangerous in many ways, etc.) Increased energy costs have affected EVERY aspect of our economy .. just look at grocery prices ... the farmers pay more for energy to run their equipment, costs more to get their products to market, costs way more to truck grocery products all over the country. Every item people buy in the grocery store is anywhere from 30 percent more, to often double in cost. Home energy costs are way more .. electricity and heat. Most people cannot afford to put solar panels on their roof, so that's not a viable option for most, and takes many years to recoup the cost. Under Trump administration, energy costs were way less, and the U.S. became energy independent for the first time. No more begging the Arabs or Venezuela for oil.
There is no perfect human to run for President. And it's not a personality contest. Harris is an embarrassment in that she can't even answer important policy questions ... always gives a generic 'say nothing' answer ... like, "I came from a middle class family where the neighbors were proud of their lawns". Give me a break. She can't even answer what she would do different than Biden, God help us. And won't admit that Biden's cognitive decline was very obvious before he even became President. WHO has been running the country the past nearly four years?? Not Biden or Harris. They are both clueless.
I could go on and on, but will stop. This is the wonderful thing about our country .. we can have very different opinions, and 'agree to disagree'. It is crucial that we don't lose our Freedom of Speech. I'm sure there are many who disagree with my above comments. And that's OK. I respect their opinions and feelings ... just don't agree.
Hey Carol, in response to the part of your comment about undocumented immigrants receiving rent and utility free apartments, I read the article and saw the videos within the article and it's very misleading. It talks about undocumented immigrants (I will not use the dehumanizing term) but the rep from Catholic Charities Maine mentioned "refugees." The report is very misleading because they are using immigration terms interchangeably when migrants, undocumented immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees are NOT the same. We need to be extremely careful when reading news articles like this and watching the news. What the rep of Catholic Charities Maine in the video was talking about sounds like the same program I volunteer with for Bethany Christians Services, where they welcome VETTED refugees into the United States and help them get situated here. They do find housing for them, usually furnished by donations. They help them with job training, interviews practices, getting their kids enrolled in schools etc. But these are VETTED REFUGEES. They usually have been waiting 10+ years to get into a country that will accept them (it's not only the US that accepts refugees either). There is a limited number of refugees that the United States accepts each year and that number was actually lowered during the Trump administration. So please understand that yes, there are non-profit organization that do help vetted refugees get settled into the US and this doesn't take away from our veterans.
First, the idea that there is a "wide open border" isn't entirely accurate. The Biden administration has maintained several immigration controls, though their approach differs from the previous administration’s. It's true that immigration is a complex and often politically charged issue, but the claim that the borders are completely open ignores the fact that border patrol agents are still actively working, and deportations have continued. The challenges on the border are multifaceted, including a rise in asylum seekers fleeing violence and poverty in their home countries, which calls for nuanced solutions. The claim that immigration policies are designed to create future voters is misleading- undocumented immigrants cannot vote in U.S. elections.
Regarding the specific claim about new apartments in Maine being reserved for illegal immigrants, it’s important to verify sources like Gateway Pundit, which has a history of spreading misinformation. While there are programs in place to assist refugees or asylum seekers, the idea that these programs are being prioritized over veterans, for example, doesn't align with broader data on U.S. social service spending. Assistance for veterans has been a point of focus for several administrations, including Biden's.
On energy policy, the shift away from fossil fuels, including the Keystone Pipeline and coal plants, is part of a long-term strategy to address climate change and move toward sustainable energy. While there may be short-term economic challenges, the goal is to create a future where clean energy reduces long-term costs and environmental harm. Trump’s policies did favor more domestic energy production, but it’s important to recognize that factors like the global energy market, the war in Ukraine, and the pandemic have also contributed to rising energy prices, which isn't solely attributable to the Biden administration.
As for the COVID-19 vaccine mandates, while some may disagree with the government's approach, the vaccines have been widely shown to prevent severe illness and save lives. There's no credible scientific evidence to suggest that they have caused widespread deaths, though side effects, like with any medical intervention, are acknowledged and monitored by health agencies. Unless if you have valid source for this.
In terms of leadership, all politicians are subject to scrutiny, and while Kamala Harris may not appeal to everyone, dismissing her contributions and framing her as clueless overlooks her significant role in U.S. governance, particularly on issues like criminal justice reform and civil rights. As for Biden’s cognitive health, it’s important to rely on medical assessments rather than speculation.
So disagree with you. As far as lying goes I’ve heard more lies from Harris and Walz with my own ears, although Trump definitely exaggerates. Harris had an abortion van outside of the DNC, how is that a Christian position? She has promoted transgender surgery and bailing out rioters who destroy cities. And we can’t not notice the terrible economy of which she has been a part of the last 3.5 years. This hurts everyone, especially the poor. Since I do taxes for a living, I saw the Trump tax cuts helped lots of lower to middle class people. She was also part of the regime that mandated Covid shots and these shots have killed many (including many young people and people I personally knew), and there is no doubt in my and many other's minds about that, although it’s not acknowledged by the media. There is also no way I see Harris or Walz as being any more moral than Trump and they are likely worse. I think Harris will be a puppet like Biden was, and probably worse. Did you know she was dubbed the most left leaning senator?
I respect that we may have differing perspectives, but I think it’s important to respond to some of the claims made and provide a broader context.
First, you mentioned Kamala Harris having an "abortion van" outside the DNC. False. There’s no factual basis for this claim. Harris has been a strong advocate for reproductive rights, but the idea of an abortion van at the DNC seems to be misinformation that has circulated without credible sources backing it.
Regarding transgender rights and bailing out rioters, it’s true that Harris supports transgender rights, but that aligns with her stance on equality and civil liberties. As for the claim about bailing out rioters, Harris did support a bail fund during the protests in 2020, but that fund helped those protesting for racial justice, not violent rioters. Equating the entire movement for racial justice with rioting doesn’t capture the full reality of the protests, which were largely peaceful.
On the economy, it’s critical to consider the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The economic struggles over the past few years are not solely due to domestic policy but also to a global health crisis. And while some may point to the effects of inflation, Biden and Harris' administration implemented measures like the American Rescue Plan, which provided relief to many working families during a difficult time. While it’s understandable to feel economic strain, placing full responsibility on Harris overlooks the larger economic challenges beyond any one administration’s control.
Regarding the Trump tax cuts, yes, some middle-class families did benefit, but the overwhelming majority of the benefits went to corporations and the wealthiest Americans. Over time, many provisions that helped the middle class were set to expire, while those benefiting the wealthy were made permanent, disproportionately favoring the top income earners. Unless if you have the data to back your claim.
As for the COVID-19 vaccines, there is no credible evidence that they have caused widespread deaths, particularly among young people. In fact, research shows that the vaccines have saved countless lives and have helped reduce the severity of the virus. The idea that vaccines are killing people in large numbers is part of misinformation that has been widely debunked by the medical community.
It’s also worth noting that labeling Harris as a “puppet” or “left-leaning” doesn’t change the fact that she is a leader who consistently advocates for marginalized communities, economic justice, and civil rights. Being dubbed the most left-leaning senator simply reflects her progressive stance on issues such as healthcare, education, and social justice- all of which are aligned with helping those who are often left behind in society, especially vulnerable community.
I believe that leadership should be based on accountability, compassion, and justice. While Trump’s policies may have benefited some economically, his lack of accountability, divisiveness, and disregard for democratic norms present long-term challenges to the fabric of this country. For me, Kamala Harris represents a path toward equity, accountability, and a true commitment to upholding the values of freedom and justice for all.
Hi Amy. I appreciate that you read this and weighed in. I'd like to respond more fully to the points you bring up but (TMI) my mom had a heart attack a few days ago and I don't have the time right now. Ill try to get back to this in a few days. Thanks for your patience.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post and leave a comment. I want to be thoughtful here as I don't know if Howerton is your pastor. I did listen to the first 5-10 minutes. The fact that he is referencing Wayne Grudem, whose work I find harmful for women, means that I would probably disagree with some of his foundational tenets. Howerton has also made some misogynistic comments in public settings. (You can find more on that over at the Roys' Report.) His comment in the early part of this is a direct quote from Mark Driscoll, which he did not acknowledge: "Men if you don't lead your families, Satan will." I find this deeply offensive and don't believe that it can be supported biblically. If I can find the time to listen to it in full, I will, though the early bits tell me I would struggle to trust Howerton. I am sorry if that feels harsh to you.
Thank you for this clear and informative post, Dorothy.
Thanks for reading.

For me, Kamala Harris represents a path toward equity, accountability, and a true commitment to upholding the values of freedom and justice for all.
thank you for your thoughtful reply
